NOTD – Wimbledon Fever!

So, this week Wimbledon kicked off and as a huge tennis fan it’s something I’ve been looking forward to for weeks, and it’s when you know Summer has finally arrived. (The consistent rain delays are usually a giveaway of a British Summer)
Today I’d seen a really great post from Lucy’s Stash (it’s a fantastic nail art blog, you must check it out!) and was inspired by Lucy’s post to celebrate Wimbledon on my own nails.
I’m not going to lie, I’m not particularly talented when it comes to nail art so instead I’ve gone for a simple ode to the colours of the All England Club.

I used Rimmel’s 60 seconds polish in Pompous and Avon Nailwear Pro in Peppermint Leaf. I wasn’t really feeling a shiny finish for the look, so finished it off with a matte topcoat.

I’m determined to sport this look for the rest of the championships (Yes I’m a big tennis geek) so I’ll be interested to see how long it lasts without chipping!

One last thing… VAMOS RAFA! šŸ˜‰

FOTD – Monday,Monday…

I’m always one for quite neutral eyes, and I’m always wearing brown/gold/copper eyeshadow with brown kohl pencil and mascara. So today I thought I’d go with something a little bit different and experiment a bit with one of my palettes. I’m usually pretty cautious when it comes to colour around my eyes, just because I always fear clashing with my hair colour. Having said that I’m really pleased with how this look turned out. I especially love the lipstick shade (which I never thought in a million years would suit me!)

So here’s what I used…

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation – Light Vanilla
  • Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer – 1 Fair
  • Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades – Way to Glow
  • MUA Powder Blush – Shade 6

  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil – Hazel
  • Sleek Divine Mineral Eyeshadow Palette – Original (Purple Shimmer & Matte Black shades)
  • L’oreal Superliner Carbon Gloss – Carbon Black
  • Topshop Kohl Pencil – Coal
  • Topshop Lash Catcher Mascara – Black Cat

  • Topshop Lipstick – Innocent

I’m so impressed with the pigment of the Sleek eyeshadows and will definitely pick up some more of them in the future and I also swear by Topshop’s kohl pencil, they are amazing and so easy to work with. I think I’ll definitely be experimenting with colour more often now.

Face of the Day – Thursday

Here’s a quick Face of the Day post for your viewing pleasure. I felt like experimenting with one of my latest palettes when I got home from work this afternoon and this was the outcome. I really love using green eyeshadow to really bring out the colour of my eyes and then make them look bigger with an outline of brown eyeliner pencil šŸ™‚ I also tried out my latest lip product purchase, using one of the Revlon Lip Butters that are getting some major hype around the blogosphere at the moment. I’m really chuft with it and although I chose what I’d consider a bold colour for me, I absolutely love it!!

Here’s the products I’ve used for this look šŸ™‚

ā€¢ MUA Immaculate Collection
– Shade 12 (Highlight)
– Shade 15 (Lid)
– Shade 2 (Crease)
ā€¢ Topshop Kohl Pencil – Saddle
ā€¢ 17 Peep Show Mascara – Brown/Black
ā€¢ Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum – Light Vanilla
ā€¢ Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil – Hazel
ā€¢ MUA Powder Blush – Shade 5
ā€¢ Revlon Colourblast Lip Butter – Tutti Frutti

Also tested out my new Real Techniques foundation brush and think its brilliant!! The brush is so soft and it’s coverage is also amazing leaving my foundation looking really even and not cakey at all, so I’m really pleased with that too!

Hope everyone is enjoying the hot weather!

Nails & Face Of The Day!

A bit of a late night post, but after doing my haul and after such a long break without any posts at all, I was in the mood to do another. So here’s just a few snaps of my nails and face of choice for today.

My nail polish is the Maybelline Express Finish 40 in Shade 250 Deep Violet. Its a gorgeous purple with flecks of blue glitter which shimmers through in the sunshine. Unfortunately it doesn’t show up very well in the photo but it is really pretty. My Step-Nan actually gave this to me recently because she never uses it, so it was a nice little freebie for me and I’m really pleased with it. The only thing I will say is that because it dries so quickly, it does make it hard to rectify mistakes, but with a couple of coats you can end up with a nice even finish.

For my make up today I used the following…

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum – Light Vanilla
  • Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer – Fair
  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil – Hazel
  • 3 Shades from the MUA Immaculate Collection Pallette
  • Topshop Lash Catcher Mascara – Black
  • Topshop Kohl Pencil – Saddle
  • MUA Mosaic Blush – English Rose
  • Topshop Lips – Crystal

Apologies for the lighting in these pictures…it looks like one side of my face is glowing due to the light from my window!!

I absolutely love the Topshop Mascara which is from their new Spring/Summer collection ‘Sisters of the New Moon’. I think it makes my lashes look so long and it doesn’t clump at all!! Amazing!!!
